STOP Grinding HR Ranks in MH Rise - You Can't Right Now

 Monster Hunter Version 1.1.2

As things stand now most of us are grinding and trying to get our talisman’s in order but don’t expect your HR to jump up after the cap is removed and here’s why.

When Capcom reveled their update schedule there was a caveat that some people might have missed.

"You can start earning HR points once you unlock your Hunter Rank", is what it says at the bottom of this update.

Hunter Rank Caps

Having a hunter rank cap isn’t something new. In every monster hunter game hunter ranks are earned by clearing key quest and moving to a higher level of quest until you kill the final boss. Once you do that you’re normally able to break your hunter rank and you can jump from HR 7 to HR 21 or even HR 354 depending on how much you’ve played. If this information in their official announcement is anything to go by, It’s seems like that won’t be the case this time.

How HR Progress is Tracked

Progress is tracked by Hunter Rank points. Before you break your hunter rank they are always in the background being tallied up and after you break your HR rank your HR will go to a level within that threshold. However, if we look at the announcement, we aren’t accumulated any HR points until AFTER the Chameleos update.

Translation Error

I hope this isn’t the case but we’ll have to wait and see if that note was a disclaimer to help us manage expectations or was a translation error. If you remember when Monster Hunter Rise was announced they said the word “Frenzy” which lead people to believe that Gore Magala and the MH4U style of Virus was coming back. We many of us started to speculate whether or not this virus was causing the rampage but in the Japanese announcement they used different terms.

Only time will tell and I for one will be looking forward to the update.
