How to Get More Defender Tickets in Monster Hunter Rise

How to Get More Defender Tickets in Monster Hunter Rise

I know why you’re here. You’re in the late game Talisman grid and want to know how to get more of those juicy Defender 7 tickets or you just picked up your copy of rise. No matter if you’re new to Rise or trying to clear all the sub quest I’ve got you covered.

Welcome to The Topic Hole and this is How Rampage Works.

We’ll talk strategy in a minute but for now let’s go through the basics. I’ve got some good tips sprinkled in, so there’s something for everyone.

When you first start a rampage there are a few things you should do.

1)      Prepare your weapon for the final threat

2)      See and prepare for the sub quest

When you look at the ques you can see which monsters will be showing up but since you can take most of them down with the installations like ballistas and cannons you should just pick a weapon that will work on the APEX.

After you do that look at the subquest and start to plan for those. You can see these sub quest here or on the left side of the screen when you’re in the quest. Completing these will increase your strongholds level and increase your rewards at the end.

These are all the possible sub assignments and let’s go over how to clear them

Defend the main gate

Die less than 3 times

Set up hunting installations

Inflict a Status Aliment

Inflict Elemental Blight

Stun a monster

Gather Dropped Materials

Village Defender Repels a monster

Repel using Bamboo Bomb

Repel using Machine cannon

Repel using a weapon

Repel using Cannon

Repel using Wyvernfire artillery

These don’t need to be explained so let’s get rid of them.

Setting up hunting installations

If you get the one for setting up installations bless your lucky stars. All you need to do is setup the map the way you want it and then remove and reinstall installations until you complete it. This is a free win and will give you a head start to level 2.

Inflict Status or Elemental Blight

Inflicting status or elemental aliments is one of the hardest for me but if you bring Palico’s with you they can help you out. Look for Palico’s with Status attack up to help with Status and Elemental attack up to help with elemental blight and give them weapons to match.

Other than this you’ll want to gather anything that a monster drops because sometimes they will drop elemental bombs.

Positioning for these is very important. a couple good places to put them down would be next too bamboo bombs or near the gates but these will normally only help you get one monster. If you see a bunch on monsters in a choke point like next to a gate or grouped to together go down there and set it off yourself.

If any of this has been helpful go ahead and share this with a friend and subscribe for more content.

Stun a monster

The best way to stun monsters is by using the ballista. You only have 2 shots and it takes awhile to reload so this is what I do. I have two different installations so that I can try to get a knock and if I miss I will jump to the other one while the first one reloads.

Gather Dropped Materials

After you kill a monster or sometimes they will drop parts or elemental bombs so you just need to go pick them up. The bombs with help with other side quest so make sure you save them.

Repel with X weapon or Villager Repels

For this one they want you to finish off a monster with X weapon. If a villager or someone else kills it with something else it won’t count to be careful.

Defense

There are several different installations and if once you know how they work you’ll have an idea of where to place them.

There are 3 groups, Mountable, Auto, and Limited. The mountable are the ones that you need to aim like the Ballista’s , Cannons, or Machine gun. Auto, are ones that will be controlled by NPC’s and limited are things like Dragon bait and the Warriors of Kamora and we have some special ones like the counter signal.

Ballista’s

These have great range and can really be placed anywhere. The best part though are the crag shot and the retreat signal. These can stun monsters for a bit and give your team some time to kill them before they do too much damage.

Here’s a pro tip, if you set up multiple mountable ballista’s set up you can jump to a different one if you miss your crag shots.

While we’re talking about tricks here are some other one I’ve found. If any of the mountable or auto installations are running low on health remove them and re install them. This way they’re back online quicker than if they get destroyed.

Cannon’s

These do AOE damage and the thundershot will help you cause blight to a group of enemies

Machine Gun

I mainly use this one for damage but the silk attack can help keep monsters in place.

Wyvernshot

This isn’t something we can directly control but it’s really good…. If it can see the enemy.

If you can’t then it’s completely useless. If you put them facing a hall way they can do some really good damage.

Counter signal

When this is activated your weapons will hit more than normal so you could jump down and start fighting. This will do off automatically or if you hit the gong

Wyvernfire Artillery

This shot does massive damage to a large number of enemies. Make sure you aim it and then watch the destruction.

Dragonator,

This will shoot spikes out of the ground and is great for defending if a monster in in position. Make you know where it come out before using it though.

There are only 4 map types and here are some idea’s of where you could place your defenses. This aren’t the only places but these have been working or for me. These places can be destroyed so watch out if they take too much damage.

There are 10 levels to the stronghold and here is what you get with each level

Level 1 - you’ll only have the bamboo bombs and ballista’s

Level 2 - Cannon (mountable)

Level 3 - you’ll gain Cannons (Auto), Dragonator, and Dragon Bait

Level 4 - Ballista ammo is upgraded for everyone

Level 5 - You’ll gain the Wyvernfire Artillery, Wyvernshot, and Cannon Ammo is upgraded

Level 6 – Mountable Machine Cannon (mountable and Auto)

Level 7 - Ballista Ammo is upgraded again

Level 8 – Cannon Ammo upgraded

Level 9 – Dragon bait warrior and another Village Warrior unlocked

Level 10 - nothing

Try to get to level 2 as fast as possible since the AOE damage from will help you defend those early gates.

After you defend a wave the leader or the APEX will come out If there are 2 area’s just leave the first one when the APEX starts attacking the gate since it will take it down no matter what you do.

It does a lot of damage and destroies the platforms with your defenses. If/When this happens focus on getting your ballista’s back up and put up multiples of the weapons you like. If they are on different platforms then you can jump between them while it’s attacking a         platform.

Fighting away from the main gate is important because you don’t want it to become collateral damage and get hit while it’s aiming for you. It’ll chase you so you can move somewhere else or use the Dragon bait to get it to move somewhere else as well.

Those are my tips and I hope they are helpful. And what are some tips that you’ve discovered? If you’re soloing it’s tough to get S rank but possible and if you want people to hunt with come join us on the discord. We’ve been having so much fun that I didn’t want to stop playing to make this video. Thanks again for watching and if you have any questions leave them below and I’ll get to them.
